Indiana's preliminary seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate dropped 0.3 percent, to 8.5 percent in March. Indiana's rate is below the national average of 8.8 percent and below that of all neighboring states for the second month in a row. In addition, the state added 9,700 jobs in March.

rovides scholarships to low- and middle-income students to help pay the costs of tuition and fees at a public or private elementary school or high school that charges tuition. It has passed
the Senate Education Committee 7-3 on Wednesday; amendments and vote by the full Senate expected early next week.

Chrysler Group LLC plans to invest $843 million in Kokomo, retaining 2,250 jobs and tipping the company’s investments in Kokomo over the past six months to more than $1 billion, the company announced today.

Chrysler issued a statement this morning as its executives, including CEO Sergio Marchionne, headed to Kokomo for President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden’s visit.
