Misty Knisely has
been named the marketing and communications manager for the Greater Kokomo
Economic Development Alliance, effective Monday, Aug. 1.
Knisely will lead marketing and public/media relations
efforts for the Alliance and its operating units — Chamber of Commerce,
Downtown Association, Inventrek Technology Park and Visitors Bureau. She’ll also
be responsible for advertising and social media.
“We are happy to have Misty on the Alliance team,” said
President and CEO Charlie Sparks. “She’s built her career on community, and we
have high hopes for the impact she’ll have on the Kokomo community in this role.
We believe she will excel in promoting the city’s attractiveness to current and
prospective businesses, residents and visitors alike.”
Holding a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ball State University, Knisely
spent 16 years in community journalism before making the transition to marketing
and communications. Prior to accepting a position with the Logansport
Pharos-Tribune as managing editor, she worked nine years with the Kokomo
Tribune. She is a member of Leadership Kokomo Class of 2009. In her return to
Kokomo, she plans to again become strongly engaged in the community.
“I’ve loved my time in newsrooms and wouldn’t change it for
the world,” Knisely said. “I’m excited, though, to take the knowledge gained
from covering a community and translating that into The Alliance’s efforts to
make our growing community successful in every way. I’m looking forward to
being part of Kokomo’s successful future.
