Chamber accepting nominations for annual awards

09/15/2016

The Celebration of Commerce & Community Awards is presented annually by the Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce. Now in its 102nd year, it’s a festive evening program that honors Chamber of Commerce members, boards, councils, partners and volunteers.

More than 325 professionals attended the 2015 event during which a total of seven awards were given to businesses, organizations and individuals.

As the 2016 event approaches, the Chamber is again looking for the community’s input on those deserving recognition.

Nominations are being sought for the following 2016 Annual Celebration of Commerce & Community Awards:

• Business Person of the Year: A business owner who exemplifies the total package; success in business, community involvement, leadership and integrity

• Small Business of the Year: A business (less than 15 employees) that is creating an impact through leadership and successful achievements in their chosen field and community initiatives that others strive to replicate

• Medium Business of the Year: A business (between 15 and 50 employees) that is creating an impact through leadership and successful achievements in their chosen field and community initiatives that others strive to replicate

• Large Business of the Year: A business (more than 50 employees) that is creating an impact through leadership and successful achievements in their chosen field and community initiatives that others strive to replicate

• Ambassador of the Year: An ambassador who is a highly visible, prestigious volunteer who serves as the Chamber’s primary liaison

• Impact Award (non-profit): A non-profit that has made a significant impact on the Kokomo community

• Volunteer of the Year: A person who has displayed selfless dedication of their time and efforts in contributing to the Chamber and its programs

• Public Institution of the Year (organizations such as a school, college, library, or hospital that is run for the public good): A business that is creating an impact through leadership and successful achievements in their chosen field and community initiatives that others strive to replicate

Nomination forms are available on the Chamber’s website. To access the forms, click here. Deadline for nominations to be returned is Friday, Sept. 23.

Nominees may only be nominated for one award and must be members of the Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce, a division of the Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance. Members may be nominated for any award, if applicable, but will not be eligible to win an award in 2016 if they have won an Annual Celebration Award in 2014 or 2015.

The winners will not be announced or made public until the annual celebration, set for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Bel Air Events, 3014 S. Webster St., Kokomo.
