Florida
Business Chooses Kokomo for Expansion
EAC
Corp, a supplier of Base Metals, High Temperature Scrap and Ferro Alloys plans
to expand its Florida operations to Kokomo and hire an estimated 15 new,
skilled employees over the next five years. EAC Corp's expansion would continue
Kokomo's recent winning streak for attracting new companies and new investment.
"Kokomo
has tremendous assets available to a company like EAC Corp," said Kokomo
Mayor Greg Goodnight. "From our abundant engineering and manufacturing
expertise to our quality infrastructure and our innovative incentive programs,
I am confident we can meet EAC's needs, and help the company grow in Kokomo."
Company
officials made several trips to Kokomo touring potential sites. They have
narrowed their selection to four facilities which could accommodate the
7,500-square-foot production floor space needed.
"While
EAC could have located anywhere in the Midwest, a Kokomo location will give
them easy access to the new US 31 Corridor, bring them closer to a major client
and increase their contacts with future clients," said Development
Director Debra Cook. "In short, locating in Kokomo will give the company
an immediate competitive edge."
The
company intends to invest nearly $200,000 in new equipment. Tentative plans are
to hire employees next spring and begin production late in the second quarter
of 2012.
"We
manage our family company to be the kind of place where you want to work,"
said Jim Courts, Vice President. "As a Kokomo native, establishing a
Kokomo facility is going to be a good fit for the growth of our company, and
hopefully this will give us a significant advantage moving forward. Throughout
this expansion process, Mayor Goodnight and his economic team have been very
supportive of our needs, and we look forward to being a part of the Kokomo
community."
EAC
Corporation is a family-owned business started in 1991. For more information
