Downtown Kokomo is where the magic happens.
Welcome to downtown Kokomo! Our revitalized, historic downtown district invites you to visit our many shops, restaurants, attractions, and events - we know you'll enjoy your time here.
Downtown Kokomo offers a wide variety of retailers, businesses, and locally-owned shops with nearly every good or service you need. No matter what you're looking for, you'll find it comes with personalized service from merchants who truly care about their customers and are focused on your experience.
Check out our Downtown District Map for a list of downtown retailers and shopping venues.
Downtown living has never been nicer! With a growing downtown community, you will be at the center of it all. Modern living in historic architectural buildings (23 upper-level condos in the central 9 blocks), multi-unit housing developments in surrounding blocks (such as Lofts @ Union Street, Residences at Washington Street, the upcoming Apperson Way Apartments, and the recently-announced Apperson factory project), and quaint traditional neighborhoods just beyond the city center. Miles of walking and biking paths connect the center of town with parks and attractions throughout the community. With a unique blend of locally-owned restaurants and shopping nearby, a free public parking garage, the free City Line Trolley public transportation system, and a highly walkable downtown core, you'll get a variety of 'big city' amenities in a 'small town' atmosphere.
Want to create your own space? Howard County currently offers rent abatement incentives for second- and third-story developments. Click here for more information.
If you're a fan of architecture or historical buildings, you'll love our downtown cityscape (we even hosted the DNR's Preserving Historic Places: Indiana's Statewide Preservation Conference in 2015). If the arts are your style, we have several art galleries and installations throughout downtown, including Howard County's first public outdoor gallery, Artist Alley. Nightlife lover or foodie? Our unique mix of bars and restaurants run the gamut from Irish to Cajun to Americana and more, creating flavorful experiences that you'll love. No matter what you're looking to do or see, you'll find something for all ages in downtown Kokomo. Check out our Downtown Attractions page for a full list.
